The VR Pro MK6 !

This Vaporizer is a culmination of all the best features learned from extensive development and field testing. It has a custom designed embedded ceramic heating element, built for the harsh extremes it endures. The element completely encircles the tray, transferring all the heating energy directly to where it is needed. The tray has a low mass and fast cool down cycle for repeated use. It is only 8mm thick, so may fit through narrower hive enrances without having to tilt the hive over to use it. The current drawn from a 12V battery is just on 8 Amps, (rated at 100 Watts)  which means more cycles per charge, but most importantly - much less stress on smaller batteries. The heating cycle and temperatures are critical in obtaining an even evaporation cycle, without overheating or burning the crystals. Some olther vaporisers (based on diesel engine glow plugs) tested draw 12.5 Amps, which is ok for car batteries, but incredibly bad for lower capacity batteries.

Why is it called the MK6 ?

Here is a lineup of most of the retired development designs. From the first chunky monoblock, our main priority was to use a thinner custom heater unit, as well as enclosing the pair of heat proof power wires inside the handle shaft. You can see some early designs tried an air gap to limit heat transfer down the handle shaft. However, we found using strong stainless steel for the handle shaft slowed the heat loss considerably. The thermal conductivity of copper is 400, aluminium is 240, and brass is 109 - but stainless steel is only 16. Most of the heat stays in the tray!

What are these small straps there for ?

We have been asked a few times what the purpose of the silicon straps are on the battery clips. They were designed and fitted there on most of our vaporisers to help prevent the handles hooking up on the wires, twigs, grass, etc. These clips are like fish hooks and always manage to get hooked up onto something. The straps were added to help prevent this!  Also, you can hook up our vapourisers any way round on the battery. It does not matter which way round you connect the red + or black - clips to the battery.

Standard 7.2 A/hr 12 volt lead acid batteries

These are available from Jaycar, cost is between $30 and $50. If you can get a higher rated battery, like 9A/hr or more, then this will last longer. All batteries should be only 12 volts. This is not enough voltage to give anyone an electric shock if you touch one or both of the terminals. However, take care not to short out the two terminals together with anything metal. They have enough current (amps) to create sparks, and may melt anything metal that shorts both terminals together. Jaycar also sell a suitable charger for these. Jaycar also stock easy to set and use countdown timers for about $20.

Deep cycle higher capacity batteries

Higher capacity 12V battery, pictured is an 18 A/hr deep cycle, which will last many more cycles before requiring a recharge. More info on these soon. Car batteries are also suitable, (just very heavy!) as long as they are the normal 12 volt ones.
